Rodent Control
Central Coast Newcastle & Hunter Valley
Controlling rodents is crucial for safeguarding the health of your family, pets, and your home itself.

Rodents pose serious health risks as they:
-
Harbor various parasites, including fleas, ticks, lice, and mites.
-
Transmit diseases such as dysentery, leptospirosis, and typhus fever.

Additionally, rodents can cause significant damage in homes:
-
They are a leading cause of house fires due to gnawing on electrical wires.
-
They contaminate food with their urine and droppings.
-
Their incessant gnawing damages a variety of materials.

Effective rodent control requires understanding their behavior and using the right products. Considering the hazards of rodent baits around children, pets, and native wildlife, it's also essential to implement a safe and effective rodent control program.
How to rodent proof your home…
Rodents often reside outdoors but will venture indoors in search of food. If they find a secure, warm space indoors, they are likely to make it their home, especially during cooler months.

To deter rodents from entering your home, there are several measures you can take to make your home less inviting and block their access:
Eliminate food sources:
-
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
-
Store food, including pet food, in rodent-proof containers made of glass or thick plastic with tight-fitting lids.
-
Keep garbage bins away from the house and ensure they have secure lids.

Block potential entry points:
-
Seal holes with materials that rodents cannot remove or chew through. Mice can squeeze through tiny gaps the size of the end of a little finger, and rats through only slightly larger openings, so it can be challenging to block all potential entry points.
-
Trim back tree branches that overhang the roof to prevent rats from climbing up and entering through the roof.

Eliminate potential nesting sites:
-
Clear away vegetation close to the building's perimeter and in the garden.
-
Remove any stored items from under the house and in the roof to prevent them from becoming rodent nesting sites.
